Carter Twins to Rock Medford High Friday

Carter Twins– Heidi Walsh, Mustang News

The Mustang News had the chance to speak with the rising country music sensation The Carter Twins, who will be performing in the Little Theater this Friday, February 12, at 7:30 pm. The concert will benefit senior scholarships in the Fine Arts department.

The Carter Twins- Josh and Zach- started their music career shortly after finishing high school when they had the opportunity to meet with an MTV executive in Los Angeles. Here’s what they had to say about their budding stardom.

What was it like to get a music opportunity from MTV?

It was amazing. We didn’t even know he was there so it wasn’t like we could get nervous about performing in front of him.

What is it like being on the road with your brother?

Its great being on the road with your brother. I mean we’ve always been together and since it’s just us for siblings we’ve only gotten closer.

How long does it take for you two to write a song?

It depends, but I’d have to guess about thirty minutes to an hour. We need to take a minute and let the inspiration come to us.

Does that inspiration come from your own personal lives?

Well, we try to appeal to the general audience who are probably going through the same problems as we are.

How are you getting used to being famous?

Being famous is pretty much insane because your not used to getting all the attention from people you don’t even know wanting your autograph. It’s amazing to hang out with fans though. Sometimes when we go out with our friends they usually like to crack jokes and have fun with it.

Are you going to have a CD come out anytime soon?

Yes, we’ll probably put a CD out at the end of this year.

Have you ever thought of venturing outside of country and maybe experimenting more?

We’ll definitely stay country for now but I could see us experimenting and just having the opportunity to be on the pop charts would be awesome.

Is this your first time being in the Boston area?

Yes it is actually. We’ve been to almost every city except Boston and we’ll have a trip to Maine soon.

Other bands such as the Jonas Brothers have this saying, “Even if you’re at the top live life like you’re at the bottom.” Do you two have any sayings yourselves?

Help people on your way up and treat everyone the way you’d like to be treated is basically a quintessential saying.

Who are your music influences?

John Maize definitely.

Rolling Stone or the Beatles?

Beatles for sure.

What is something you’d want your fans to know about you?

There’s a lot of ways to keep in touch with all our concerts on Twitter, Facebook and our website www.catertwins.com
