Rotary Club Lights Up Medford
|On Saturday April 10, 2010, the Rotary Club of Medford once again held its “Rotary Lights Up Medford” campaign at the Medford Senior Center. Rotarians, in keeping with their motto “Service Above Self”, handed out energy efficient compact fluorescent light bulbs to replace incandescent light bulbs in our seniors’ homes. Compact fluorescent light bulbs use 75% less energy and can save $30 over the life of the bulb.
With assistance from the Council of Aging, senior residents filled out applications for up to 5 free light bulbs per household. The light bulbs were distributed in 60 watt, 75 watt, and 90 watt equivalent versions. Rotarians, who volunteered their time, handed out over 700 light bulbs to 141 residents of Medford.
