Green Line Extension Land Use Planning Workshops
|As part of its commitment to civic engagement, the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) today announced it will hold a series of Green Line Extension Land Use Workshops in Medford, Cambridge and Somerville in May and June. The meetings are intended to gather public ideas and suggestions for the areas around future MBTA Green Line Extension stations. After an overview presentation on the Green Line Extension project, participants will have a chance to share knowledge about their neighborhoods and to express their priorities and concerns about future land uses around the stations. These workshops will focus on areas around the planned stations, while fall workshops will focus on the stations themselves.

The Green Line Extension project is an initiative of the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT), which is coordinating the project with the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA). The project will extend existing MBTA Green Line service from Lechmere Station through the northwest Boston corridor communities of Cambridge, Somerville, and Medford, with an extension of the main line to College Avenue in Medford and a spur line to Union Square in Somerville. Anyone interested in the project can visit the project website, www.mass.gov/greenlineextension, for more information.
Please contact Katherine Fichter at 617-973-7342 a week before an event with requests for language or other accommodations.
