The varsity girls lacrosse team “got back on track” with a victory over Lowell on Saturday morning.
“It’s good to get back on track with our winning ways, especially after the defeat we suffered the other night at the hands of Central Catholic. Winning’s good!” said Head Coach Matt Galusi.
The Mustangs defeated Lowell at Lowell 11-7. Mady Forcier and Leanne Bordonaro each had a hat trick, scoring three goals each. Sophomore Olivia Timmins had two goals and two assists. Ericka Silva and captain Francesca Alfonso each netted one goal, while captain Mary Barber had one goal and two assists.
Sophomore goalie Rachel Keen again delivered for her team. Despite “letting in a few soft ones early,” she did not get rattled and did her job for the Mustangs.
“That kid’s a trooper. She battles all the time. When we need her the make the save she’s always there,” said Coach Galusi.
The team is currently 11-4 with one game left to play against Haverhill on May 24. According to Galusi, Medford will find out its state tournament seeding and pairing on May 27.
Coach Galusi is proud of his team and their performance this season.
“This is a great team. I’m so happy for these girls,” said Galusi.
