Realtors Hit the Dance Floor for Charity

Season 4 of Dancing with the Realtors August 20th

Covering over 52 communities, this year’s dancers will be members from the Plymouth, South Shore, Eastern Middlesex, North Central, North Shore, Northeast, Cape Cod, Worcester and the Greater Boston Association of REALTORS. This event is open to all realtors, affiliates, friends and family of all these boards. Last year all the shows along with the finals raised over $154,000 for various chapters of Habitat for Humanity. We hope that you can assist Dancing with the Realtors in continuing to raise awareness and funds for this great cause!

DWTR will take place on Friday evening, August 20: 6pm cocktail hour; show begins at 7pm; at the Historic Memorial Hall, 585 Main Street, Melrose, MA, and will be hosted by Billy Costa of Kiss 108 and TV Diner.

To be involved with DWTR, Dancers must be able to commit to a minimum of 10 dance lessons for 10 weeks at Studio 665 in Woburn and will perform with their pro partners in the show. All dancers who participate will also be invited to compete at the DWTR State finals held at the Eastern United States Dancesport Championships in Boston in February 2011.

All newcomers will learn the American bronze level Fox Trot and Swing and all returning dancers will learn American Silver level Cha/Cha and Tango Aso. The New England Fall Dancesport Classic, a New England Dancesport Ballroom Competition, will premiere at Memorial Hall on Saturday August 21st. Competition dancing will take place all day on Saturday and the evening will have a few professional show performances and general ballroom dancing.

Both events are open to the general public and if you enjoy dancing or watching great dancing these events are not to be missed!

How it all began…

In April 2007, the Eastern Middlesex Association of REALTORS held a very successful dance competition that duplicated the popular TV show “Dancing with the Stars.” Dancing with the Realtors was created to raise funds for Habitat for Humanity. Over 20 members of EMAR (all non-professional dancers) trained for several months at a local dance studio to compete for a SOLD OUT audience held at the Hillview Country Club in North Reading. The proceeds of $21,000 benefited The Boston Habitat for Humanity. Now a statewide event, there have been eight shows completed and $154,000 has been raised for Habitat for Humanity.
