|3-Game Homestand for Chiefs
The 13-5-1 Andre Chiefs, currently in first place, have four games this week Monday-Thursday, hosting three and hitting the road for one.
The Chiefs start it off by hosting the 11-6 Wakefield Merchants at 6:00PM at Tufts University on Monday, followed by a game at the same place and the same time against the 4-17 Mooney Dental Tanners on Tuesday.
On Wednesday the Chiefs host hometown rivals the 8-10 Medford Americans. That game is also taking place at 6:00PM at Tufts University’s Huskins Field. On Sunday it’s the Americans’ turn to host the Chiefs for a 5:30PM game at Playstead Park.
Finally on Thursday the Chiefs are East Boston-bound to challenge the 9-6 Testa Corp. Bombers for an 8:00PM game.
Medford Americans Stay in Medford for 4 Games
The 8-10 Medford Americans will host three teams this week on their home field at Playstead Park while traveling across town to play their hometown rivals.
On Monday the Americans start it off by hosting the 9-6 Testa Corp. Bombers at 6:00PM at Playstead Park.
On Wednesday the Americans visit the Chiefs for a 6:00PM game at Tufts. The Americans will host the Chiefs on Sunday at 5:30PM at Playstead.
On Friday the Americans head to Lexington High School for an 8:00PM game with the 12-4 Lexington Blue Sox, while on Saturday they host the Mooney Dental Tanners at 1:30PM.
Intercity League Notebook…Former Wakefield Merchant Mickey Wiswall, a seventh round draft pick of the Seattle Mariners in June, who made his pro debut for the Everett, Washington, Aqua Sox, will be hosting former Chiefs centerfielder Jeff Bercume’s Vancouver Canadians on Monday, August 2, in a bit of an ICL reunion in the Great Northwest. Bercume is currently hitting .269 in his first 19 games for the Oakland A’s short-season Class A affiliate….Saturday’s heavy showers caused the Chiefs at Bulldogs game in Reading to be postponed. It was the only ICL game that was scheduled……The Americans Charlie Pagliarulo has been on a tear and now has five homers and 16 RBI on the season. The recent Bentley graduate is hitting .339 and is also tied for the league lead in runs scored with 13…..Reading’s Mike Drinkwater currently has the lowest ERA in the circuit (0.00), having not allowed an earned run in 15.1 innings. Testa’s Bobby Giarrantani (0.72), Drew Brzozowski (0.74) and Steve Bodnar (0.82) both of the Blue Sox, Kevin Tidmarsh (0.83) of the Merchants, the Chiefs’ Jared Freni (0.84) and Watertown’s Brian Casey (0.93) all have ERA’s of under 1.00 based on ICL pitcher’s who have thrown at least 15 innings so far. Casey leads all pitchers with 49 K’s in just 37.2 innings…..Mark Adessa of the Americans and Bill Catlado of the Bulldogs are the only two ICL regulars that are at the .400 mark at this point of the season. Both Adessa (20-50) and Cataldo (16-40) are at an even .400.
