|O’Hara named president of Hallmark Health Medical Associates, Inc.
Hallmark Health System, which includes Lawrence Memorial Hospital of Medford and Melrose-Wakefield Hospital, is pleased to announce that John M. O’Hara has been appointed president of Hallmark Health Medial Associates, Inc., the organization’s employed physician’s group. O’Hara will also serve as a Hallmark Health Senior Vice President.
O’Hara joins Hallmark Health Medial Associates from The Cardiovascular Specialists, LLC in Hyannis and Falmouth, where he served as chief executive officer for 10 years. While there, O’Hara merged two practices into a larger company, led the Board and group through many extraordinary challenges, and consistently developed and implemented highly successful and strategic business plans. He also negotiated collaborative initiatives with several entities including Cape Cod Healthcare, Shield’s MRI and Beth Israel Deaconess Physician Organization.
O’Hara has spent time during his extensive and impressive career at some of the state’s most well-known and well-respected hospital and healthcare organizations. While at Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates, O’Hara was Boston Regional Administrator and Administrator of The Kenmore Center, one of the largest ambulatory care centers in Massachusetts. At Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Massachusetts he served as Assistant General Counsel, providing legal and business counsel on corporate, managed care, government program, compliance, regulatory and litigation matters. O’Hara has also held senior leadership positions at two acute care hospitals.
O’Hara received his bachelor’s degree in political science from Boston College before going on to obtain a master’s degree in healthcare administration from the George Washington University in Washington, DC. O’Hara earned his juris doctorate (JD) from Suffolk University Law School.

Dr. Gerald Riffelmacher joins Hallmark Health Medical Associates, Inc.
Hallmark Health System, which includes Lawrence Memorial Hospital of Medford and Melrose-Wakefield Hospital, is pleased to announce that Gerald Riffelmacher, MD has joined the organization’s employed physician’s group, Hallmark Health Medial Associates, Inc.
Board certified in internal medicine, Dr. Riffelmacher has been in private practice in Medford for more than 30 years. He is well regarded in the community and loved by his patients and their families.
Dr. Riffelmacher made the decision to join Hallmark Health Medical Associates to become an important member of a well-respected and growing multi-disciplinary group practice. Currently Hallmark Health Medical Associates employs 45 physicians, eight nurse practitioners and a nurse midwife.
Dr. Riffelmacher’s office will move from 0 Governors Ave. in Medford to 101 Main St., Suite 202, in Medford this July. He will be relocating to allow for expansion of his practice in the future including the addition of a second physician as well as to gain operational efficiency. Dr. Riffelmacher’s office telephone and fax numbers will remain the same when the office moves.
Dr. Riffelmacher earned his medical doctor (MD) degree from the University of Maryland before going on to complete his internship and residency at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center in Boston.
