Pagliarulo Signs Pro Baseball Contract

Charlie PagliaruloMedford Resident, Bentley College Star Latest from Intercity League to go Pro

Former Bentley star Charlie Pagliarulo is on the way to Texas, where he is expected to sign a professional contract with the Laredo Broncos of the Independent United League.

Pagliarulo just completed an outstanding season for the Medford Americans, hitting .374 with six homers and 21 RBI’s.

The second baseman also tore up Northeast-10 Conference pitching this past spring, when he concluded his four year career at Bentley, hitting a lofty .396 in 41 games for the Falcons.

The Broncos currently stand in fifth place in the UBL with a 33-38 record and have twenty games remaining on their regular season schedule, which concludes on August 30.

Pagliarulo, a 2006 Medford High School graduate, was named the Most Outstanding Male Athlete by the M-Club and was a Greater Boston League All-Star for three straight years in baseball and golf. He was also a member of the National Honor Society and captained the baseball, track, and golf teams. His father Charlie was a talented player for the University of Miami and his uncle Mike played major league baseball for over a decade, including more than five years with the New York Yankees.

The twenty-two-year old marketing major finished his senior season with a .396 average, 67 hits, 38 runs scored and 23 RBI. He was selected first-team All-Northeast-10 and American Baseball Coaches Association Division II All-East Region, and received second-team Division II All-East Region accolades from both Daktronics and the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association.

Pagliarulo, number three in Bentley history with 218 career hits, ranked in the top four in the Northeast-10 in batting (.396), slugging (.568) and on base percentage (.461). He was the conference’s top hitter against lefties (15-25, .600) and with two outs (.438).

He was selected to play in the New England All-Star game at Fenway Park in June, a yearly game between the region’s Division I All-Stars and a team of Division II and III players.
