Tufts Ranked 28th on National List

Annual US News and World Report College Rankings Released

Tufts University is ranked among the top thirty research universities in the nation on an annual list compiled by US News and World Report.

Harvard again tops the list of national universities, while Williams College repeats as the nation’s top-ranked liberal arts college.

Tufts is in a category that includes Ivy League schools and revered public schools such as UCLA and the University of Virginia. The schools offer a full range of undergraduate majors as well as master’s and doctoral degrees and are also are known to produce important research.

UCLA, UVA, and Wake Forest University are tied on the national list at 25, leaving Tufts ranked at 28 on the national university list.

Tufts is ranked 19th on a list of national universities that high school guidance counselors say provide the best undergraduate education. The school is also ranked 30th on a national list of universities that offer the best value, with 36.3% of students receiving need-based grants and an average of a 53% discount off the total cost ($41,598) to attend the school.

US News says it takes many factors into consideration when compiling its annual lists, including a school’s reputation among its peers, student retention, faculty resources, student selectivity, financial aid, alumni giving, high school counselor ratings, and graduation rates.
