Bailey Receives Keys to City
|Medford Man Recognized for Rescuing Passenger from Burning Cab
Sixty-three year-old Medford resident John Bailey does not consider himself a hero despite rescuing an injured man from a burning taxi in Arlington this week. The long-time MBTA employee was on his way to work when he witnessed a taxi plunge down an embankment and crash into a tree along Mystic Valley Parkway in Arlington near the Medford line. Bailey pulled over, ran to the accident scene, and pulled an injured passenger from the burning cab.
He was recognized by Mayor Michael McGlynn in a ceremony on Friday and received the keys to the city. Bailey speaks about the incident, and how he considers men and women in the service “real” heroes, in the video below.
