History Comes Alive in Medford
|Colonial Re-Enactors Demonstrate Military, Civilian Life During American Revolutionary Era
Volunteers from the Stow Minuteman Company transformed Mystic Riverbend Park in Medford into a Revolutionary War encampment this weekend. The event brought history to life for the more than 600 people who stopped by to see colonial era food, toys, games, music, and other aspects of 18th century life. Militia drills and musket demonstrations also took place at the event, which was organized by Medford resident and local historian Ryan Hayward.
A “Red Coat” stopped by on Saturday.
Colonial cooking took place in a fire pit. The group cooked their own food and churned their own butter.
Lace-making was huge in Massachusetts during the colonial era, especially in Ipswich.
