The Patrick-Murray campaign announced today that Medford Mayor Michael McGlynn, Melrose Mayor Robert J. Dolan, North Adams Mayor Richard Alcombright, Pittsfield Mayor James Ruberto, Revere Mayor Thomas Ambrosino, and Worcester Mayor Joe O’Brien have endorsed Governor Deval Patrick and Lieutenant Governor Tim Murray for reelection. With less than four weeks until Election Day, the mayors will join the Patrick-Murray campaign’s grassroots organizing and GOTV efforts in every corner of the Commonwealth.
All six mayors cited Governor Patrick and Lieutenant Governor Murray’s ongoing commitment to the true needs of cities and towns, Governor Patrick’s accessibility at the local level, Lieutenant Murray’s experience in issues affecting municipalities, and the Patrick-Murray administration’s continued investments in job creation, infrastructure, education funding, health care, clean and alternative energy, and veterans services – even through these difficult times.
“I am proud to receive the support of each of these exceptional mayors,” said Governor Deval Patrick. “Lt. Governor Murray and I have been committed since day one to ensuring that cities and towns in every corner of the Commonwealth have a strong voice and a seat at the table and we have kept our promise. While our state continues to emerge from the global economic recession faster and stronger than the rest of the nation, we are doing everything we can to ensure that our cities and towns have the resources and tools they need to thrive. These mayors have been true partners in these efforts, and I look forward to continuing to work with each of them in the days ahead as we build a stronger and brighter Commonwealth for generations to come.”
“As a former mayor, I am so grateful to receive the support and endorsement of the mayors of these great cities,†Lt. Governor Murray said. “I know first-hand that mayors and local officials are responsible for delivering the vital services, like education and public safety, that define a community’s quality of life. To maintain those services through tough times, and to invest for the future, cities need a true partnership with the leaders on Beacon Hill, not lip service. That’s why it’s been among my top priorities as lieutenant governor to make that partnership a reality, and I thank these mayors for their vote of confidence.â€
“The Patrick-Murray Administration has been very accessible to local officials and has taken a leadership role on behalf of the cities and towns of Massachusetts in very trying economic times,” said Medford Mayor Michael McGlynn. “They have supported our positions that protect the quality of life in our communities. They have been extremely supportive in the areas of education, the environment, and local aid. Today is not the time for on the job training with a new administration – we need stability in Massachusetts. I am supporting Deval Patrick because he understands that government has a role in growing our economy by investing in infrastructure and education. With Governor Patrick’s leadership we are first in the country in education and are leading the country out of a devastating recession. The Governor tells us the truth; not what we might want to hear. He is the kind of leader we need over the next four years.”
