Boys, Girls Soccer Shut Out Everett Friday

The MHS boys varsity soccer team, the undefeated Greater Boston League champion, defeated Everett 1-0 on the road on Friday.

Junior Jeff Mwangi scored the Mustangs’ lone goal, which didn’t come until the second half of the physical game. Medford completely dominated the second half of play and shut down Everett’s offensive attack.

The team is 9-1-5 overall and is 6-0-2 in the GBL. Next up for the Mustangs is a trip to Boston College High School for a Monday afternoon game. Medford will host Billerica under the lights on Thursday, October 28 at 6:30PM and closes the regular season at Marblehead on Monday, November 1.

The girls varsity soccer team, also the undefeated GBL champ, defeated Everett on Friday at home. The Mustangs shut out the Crimson Tide, 2-0, with Jackie Pellechia earning her ninth shut out in the net. After a scoreless first half, Alisa Vita and Olivia Timmins scored Medford’s two goals, according to Head Coach Rachel Perry.

On Saturday Medford fought Revere to a 1-1 draw, with Timmins again coming through with a goal for the Mustangs.

Medford is 10-3-2 overall and 7-0 in the GBL with three games left in the regular season. On Wednesday, October 27, the Mustangs are in Winthrop for a night game and on Friday, October 29 Medford heads to Dracut for a game at 3:45PM. The last game of the season is at Somerville on Tuesday, November 2, also at 3:45PM.
