Green Medford Organizes ‘Reverse’ Trick-or-Treat

CFL bulbLocal Environmental Education Group to Distribute Energy Efficient Light Bulbs on Halloween

On Halloween young trick-or-treaters and their parents will hit the streets of Medford armed with 200 energy efficient light bulbs.

The “reverse” trick-or-treat organized by Green Medford is an attempt to educate people about saving money and electricity by switching to energy efficient compact fluorescent light (CFL) bulbs.

“CFLs save residents money, last much longer than incandescent lights, and have similar light quality. Since they use much less electricity, they also greatly reduce the air pollution created by power plants,” explained event organizer Susan Altman.

Anyone interested in participating should meet outside of the Columbus Elementary School, located at 37 Hicks Avenue, Medford, at 5:00PM.

The event is sponsored by National Grid, Tufts University Office of Community Affairs, Fletcher Green, City of Medford Energy and Environment Office, and Green Medford.
