Sal’s Pizza Donates 400 Pizzas to Homeless Children
|Sal’s Pizza Inc. donates 400 pizzas to “Christmas in the City†– the venerable community event for children in homeless shelters throughout the Boston area.
This year the event was held at the Boston Convention Center on Sunday December 19th. 2,800 children were chauffeured in 110 private busses to the event. They stepped out onto a red carpet with falling snow, cartoon characters and balloons. Inside they were dazzled with a winter wonderland scene with no less magic than the North Pole, with a stage for live entertainment, a choir, hip-hop artists and Santa Claus in a huge truck! A traditional holiday meal was prepared and the ever-popular Sal’s Pizza was also served.
Just when the children thought it couldn’t get any better, the back of the stage opened to reveal an amusement park, clowns, a fire truck, a petting zoo, basketball court and a personal meeting with Mr. Claus himself to tell him their Christmas wishes. The festivities commenced when a minion of Santa’s elves delivered custom gift bags to each child with exactly what they wished for Christmas.
“It always feels good to give to our less fortunate neighbors, but this event particularly touched my heart.†says Sal Lupoli, owner of Sal’s Pizza Inc. “Christmas is all about bringing smiles to children’s faces. This group is doing amazing work.â€
