Police arrested three young men, including a Medford man, for allegedly breaking into a house and attempting to steal a couch.
Oussama Rhim, 22, of Medford, Mohammed Hadjeres, 21, of Cambridge, and Zakaria Nour, 19, of Malden, were all arrested and charged with two felonies: breaking and entering and larceny. Rhim already had a warrant out for his arrest though it is unclear for what crime.
According to Medford Police Lieutenant Paul Covino, the men were caught trying to take a black leather couch out of the basement of a Fellsway apartment building on Friday, January 21 around 6:30PM. A tenant alerted police when he discovered the unknown men in the basement of the apartment building. When police arrived, they found four men loading a pick up truck with the couch. They fled when they saw the cops and one managed to get away.
Police detained Rhim, Hadjeres, and Nour, who said had seen the couch advertised on Craig’s List. Police didn’t buy the story and the owner of the couch, who police later spoke to, said it hadn’t been for sale.
The suspects are facing felony charges, specifically breaking and entering in the nighttime to commit a felony and larceny from a building. As for the fourth person allegedly involved in the crime, the suspects told police they didn’t know his name.
