Bove, Lanzilli Papa Gino’s ‘Game Time’ Student-Athletes

Cousins Recognized for Talent, Committment; Lead Girls Hockey Team to State Tourney Bid

Papa Gino’s, the New England Patriots Charitable Foundation, and Medford High School are pleased recognized Brittani Lanzilli and Kristina Bove as “Game Time” student-athletes for the month of January.

Nominated by the MHS Athletic Department, Lanzilli and Bove received the award for their ability to be “Game Time” players for the girls ice hockey team as well as their community and school. Lanzilli and Bove will be recognized as Medford Papa Gino’s January “Game Time” winners and will have their names and photos prominently displayed at the Medford Papa Gino’s counter.

“Once again, Papa Gino’s is pleased to partner with the New England Patriots Charitable Trust to honor student-athletes within Medford,” said Rick Wolf, President and CEO for Papa Gino’s, Inc. “By recognizing Brittani Lanzilli and Kristina Bove, we are honoring the character and skills these students bring to the practice field, classroom and community.”

Lanzilli and Bove will receive a free team dinner and T-shirts at Papa Gino’s. They will also have a chance to have lunch at Gillette Stadium, a tour of The Hall at Patriot Place, and an opportunity to meet past Patriots players.

“Brittani Lanzilli and Kristina Bove are great student-athletes and role models for Medford High School,” said Bob Maloney, MHS Athletic Director.

Lanzilli and Bove have each scored 100 career points and counting and have helped clinch a state tourney bid for the team with a 7-2 victory over Cambridge on Saturday. The win improved the Mustangs’ record to 9-3-2, giving them the twenty points needed to qualify for the postseason. Lanzilli scored a pair of goals and collected three assists, while Bove, who joined her cousin Lanzilli in the MHS career 100 point club last time out against Marblehead, collected two goals as well. Maggie Flaherty, Samantha LoPilato and Kayli Lanzilli, Brittani’s younger sister, also scored goals for Medford in the rout of the Falcons.

The Mustangs are in the middle of a four-game home-stand. They are scheduled to host Wilmington, weather-permitting, on Wednesday, February 2 at 5PM at LoConte Rink. Peabody comes to town on Saturday, February 5, for a 4PM game, and Algonquin/Hudson visits on Wednesday, February 9 at 5PM.
