“Hairspray” Opens April 7 at Medford High
|Popular Musical to Run April 7, 8, 9 at MHS
The Medford High School Drama Club is proud to announce this year’s spring musical, Hairspray. The multi-talented cast will take the stage at the Caron Theater at Medford High School on Thursday, April 7; Friday, April 8; and Saturday, April 9. All evening performances will take place at 7:30pm with an additional 2:30 p.m. matinee on Saturday, April 9.
A Tony award-winning musical, Hairspray is set in the 1960s and tells the story of Baltimore teenager Tracy Turnblad and her dream to dance on The Corny Collins Show. When Tracy wins a role on the show, she becomes a celebrity overnight and launches a campaign to racially integrate the show, thus changing the attitudes of members of her community and beyond. With such memorable songs as “Good Morning Baltimore†and “You Can’t Stop The Beat,†Hairspray is a more than a hit musical; it is truly social commentary on the injustices of the 1960s.
Tickets for Hairspray will be on sale March 26. They can be purchased by students during lunch and after school. Additionally, tickets will be available at the door for $10 general admission; $5 for students and seniors. Tickets are half price ($5 general admission; $2.50 for students and seniors) for the Saturday matinee.
