Route 93 Bridge Replacement Prep Work Continues
|14 Bridges to be Replaced Over Ten Weekends in Summer
Prep Work Continues April 18-April 22
I-93 construction activities to prepare for the replacement of fourteen deteriorated bridge superstructures in Medford this summer will continue over the weekend and next week.
The following work activities and related lane closures are scheduled:
Route I-93 Southbound
– Left lane closure in the area of the northern median crossover prior to Exit 33 (Route 28) near the Stoneham/Medford line and in the area of the southern median crossover beyond Exit 29 (Routes 28/38) near the Medford/Somerville line on Monday, April 18 through Friday, April 22 from 12 Noon to 3 PM.
– Closure of lanes in the area of the southern crossover in the general area of the work on Friday, April 15 and Saturday, April 16 from 8 PM to 11 AM.
Route I-93 Northbound
– Double left lane closures at various locations within the project limits on Monday, April 18 through Friday, April 22 from 8 PM to 5 AM.
– Double left lane closures in the area of the southern median crossover beyond Exit 29 (Routes 28/38) near the Somerville/Medford line and in the area of the northern median crossover beyond Exit 33 (Route 28) near the Medford/Stoneham line on Monday, April 18 through Friday, April 22 from 8 PM to 5 AM.
– Double left lane closures between Exit 29 (Routes 28/38) and Exit 33 (Route 28) on Monday, April 18 through Friday, April 22 from 8 PM to 5 AM.
– Right lane closure at Exit 29 (Route 28/38) on Friday, April 15 and Saturday, April 16 from 8 PM to11 AM. The on ramp from Routes 28/38 to I-93 northbound may be closed between 10 PM and 7 AM both evenings. Affected traffic will be detoured along Route 38 northbound to a nearby on ramp at Exit 30.
Local Roadways
– Intermittent single lane and shoulder closures on Riverside Avenue and Salem Street East and West beneath I-93 on Monday, April 18 through Friday, April 22 from 7 AM to 3:30 PM. Pedestrian access will be maintained.
MassDOT encourages drivers to allow extra time for their trips and to reduce speed and use caution when travelling through all work zones.
