Baseball Team Clobbers Somerville

It was not a good day on the baseball diamond for the visiting Somerville Highlanders. The Mustang varsity baseball team shut out the visitors and overwhelmed their defense, earning a lopsided 20-0 victory in a game that was called after five innings. Senior Danny Gilchrist led Medford’s offensive attack with three homeruns, including a solo home run, a three-run homerun, and a grand slam. Senior captain Chris Salvati got the victory on the mound, only giving up one hit and pitching four innings. Chris Hayes pitched one inning of relief for the Mustangs. Medford is currently 6-1 heading into its home game against Cambridge at 4:00PM on Thursday.
