Girls Lacrosse Earns Come-from-Behind Victory

Down three goals at the half, the girls varsity lacrosse team dug deep and came up with the win against North Reading on Tuesday.
Head Coach Matt Galusi said he was “tremendously proud” of the girls for stepping up their game when it counted.
“They really don’t like to lose on that turf,” said Coach Galusi, referring to the Mustangs’ home field.
Medford ended up winning 9-8 in a game that “went back and forth.”
“I got my cardio in coaching that game…it was a real nail biter!” Said Coach Galusi.
Coach Galusi praised the Lady Mustangs for the “total team win.” In fact, the game ball for the first time ever is going to the entire team and will be placed in the locker room as a reminder of how the girls worked together for the victory.
Senior Madie Forcier earned the game-winning goal with fifty seconds left. She scored two goals and had two assists, while Olivia Timmins added four goals and an assist. Sophie Karon, normally on offense, had to play defense and still got in two goals, and Michaela Botticelli contributed a goal.
The Mustangs, Greater Boston League champs for the third straight season, are 12-2 heading into Thursday’s game against Central Catholic, a tough team that handed Medford one of its losses this season.
To pump up the team, Coach Galusi is calling for a “white out” on Thursday when Central Catholic comes to town. All Mustang fans are asked to wear white and cheer hard for the home team. The game begins at 4:00PM on the turf behind MHS.
