City Council to Consider New Voting Districts

The Medford City Council will hold a Committee of the Whole Meeting on Tuesday, May 24 to discuss changing existing wards and precincts based upon the population according to the 2010 Census.

According to Census data, Medford’s population hasn’t changed much over the past ten years. The 2000 Census has Medford’s population at 56,203 and the 2010 Census counted 56,173 people, a difference of thirty.

Even though the population overall might not have changed much, a certain precinct might have decreased or increased, so a shift is necessary, explained City Clerk Ed Finn.

Currently Medford has eight wards and each ward has two precincts.

The meeting will take place at 6:00PM in Room 207 at Medford City Hall.
