|Richard Caraviello of Medford has announced his candidacy for Medford City Council. The Medford City Council is made up of seven elected officials who will be elected into office on November 8th, 2011. Mr. Caraviello is a lifelong Medford resident, the owner of RC’s Grand Limousine & Coach in Medford.
Over the years, Richard has worked tirelessly with various community organizations in order to improve the city of Medford. He’s been involved in everything from volunteering with the Medford High School Cheerleaders squad to being one of only a small group to receive the prestigious title of Distinguished President of the Medford Kiwanis. He is currently the acting Executive Director for the Medford Chamber of commerce, and Past President of the Chamber of Commerce, Chairman of the Medford Kiwanis Literacy Program for Children and Past President of the Medford Recreational Hockey Association.
“Medford has always been good to me and I’d like to continue giving back to the community at a different level,†says Caraviello. “The city is going through some difficult times and I believe that I posses the knowledge and leadership skills to guide us through these times.â€
As a Chamber of Commerce member Caraviello chaired the Liquor Committee for 2 years as Medford sought to change its liquor seating requirements to allow smaller restaurants to obtain full liquor and beer and wine licenses. That change has brought several new restaurants to Medford.
As president of the Medford Recreational Hockey Association, Caraviello was on the forefront, fighting to keep LoConte rink open when it was in danger of being closed by the state. Caraviello worked tirelessly with the Late Senator Charlie Shannon and Governor Weld to obtain funding for the repairs necessary to keep the rink open. A plaque of Mr. Caraviello hangs in the rink’s lobby today as a token of thanks.
Caraviello’s community service record is unparalleled in the city of Medford. If elected into the City Council, Richard will bring his passion, devotion and knowledge with him and serve the people of Medford professionally and honorably
