City, School Committee to Review Budget
|The Medford School Committee and Medford City Council will begin reviewing the budget for fiscal year 2012, which begins July 1.
The School Committee has a Committee of the Whole Meeting scheduled for Wednesday, June 15 for pre-budget planning. The meeting is taking place at 7:00PM in the Superintendent’s Conference Room, which is located on the first floor in the administrative wing of Medford High School, 489 Winthrop Street.
The City Council has four meeting scheduled, including one to review the school budget. The first Committee of the Whole Meeting will take place on Tuesday, June 14 to review redistricting of the city’s wards and precincts as well as city finances and upcoming budgets. That meeting is taking place at 6:00PM in Room 207 at Medford City Hall.
Also on Tuesday, June 14 is the Council’s regularly scheduled 7:00PM meeting. Their agenda includes a request from Mayor Michael McGlynn for transferring funds to balance out fiscal year 2011 and a request to approve a home rule petition that would allow the city to use a $1,224,000 surplus from the Water Enterprise account.
On Wednesday, June 15 the Council will receive budget updates from various city departments at 5:30PM in Room 207. That discussion will continue on Saturday, June 18 with several more departments at 8:30AM.
On Tuesday, June 21 the Council is scheduled to review the school budget at 5:30PM.
