Caraviello Kicks Off City Council Campaign
|Rick Caraviello kicked off his campaign for Medford City Council on Thursday night at the VFW before a standing room only crowd of 250 people. Several state and local officials where in attendance, as he vowed, if elected, to use his many years of public service to help the citizens of this city.
“Being involved with the Chamber of Commerce, both as a member and president, I have worked with the Mayor and City Council on many issues. I am hopeful that as the President of the Chamber of Commerce and a business owner in Medford, I will be able to bring a different point-of-view to the city council. I am a hands-on person and not afraid to tackle issues that are sometimes unpopular. When the Mayor came to the Chamber of Commerce a few years back to ask for help in changing the liquor seating laws to allow smaller bistro-type restaurants to obtain full liquor and beer and wine licenses and allow bar seating, I chaired the committee that helped changed the regulations. This change allowed several new restaurants to open and prosper in the community.”
When the Chamber of Commerce lost its Executive Director to illness in December, Rick stepped in, while serving as President of the Chamber, and took over the position, a sign of his hands-on personality and willingness to get the job done. He is still managing the Chamber until a new director can be found.
As part of his public service to the community, Rick chairs the Children’s Literacy Program for the Medford Kiwanis, a program that provided over 3,000 summer reading books last week to the all public and parochial school first and third graders in the City of Medford.
“My grandfather moved to Medford in the late 1930’s and my family still lives here today. My children live and own property in Medford and my grandchildren will be attending Medford Public Schools this year so I have vowed to make this city as good for them as it has been for me and my family for almost 80 years. If elected, I will serve both the citizens of Medford and the Medford business community in a professional and mature manner.”
“You can reach me at 781-910-4707 if you have any questions. I will need all of your help and support, and most importantly your VOTE on November 8, 2011.”
