Traffic Medians at West Medford Railroad Crossing to be Installed This Week

Mayor Michael J. McGlynn, along with Local, State and Federal Officials are working closely with the Federal Railroad Administration to implement several mitigation measures that will allow the city to continue the Quiet Zone in the West Medford area that was established in June of 2005. As part of this continuing effort, mountable medians with reflective traffic channelization devices will be installed at the railroad intersections at Canal Street and West Medford Square. This work will commence on Wednesday, June 29, 2011 and will be completed within a few days.

This work is the first step in satisfying the dual needs of resident and traffic safety, while ensuring that our residents are not adversely impacted by train whistles. As we move through the process, we will keep the community informed of our progress.
