Mustang Football Seniors Look Forward to College
|Congratulations to the following seniors who have declared their college intentions for the fall of 2011:
Alec Finn, #88, Captain, Tight End/Defensive End/LB/Long Snapper. Will be enrolling at Curry College in Milton to play for Head Coach John “Skip†Bandini as a Linebacker. Curry is a perennial D3 Football powerhouse in the Northeast with past Mustang players Sean Spencer and Andrew Waldrip playing major roles for the Colonels.
Alec was a 3-year varsity letterman in football, and also earned a varsity letter in indoor track for the shot put. Finn was a 3-year two way starter for the football team, earning team MVP and recognition as a Greater Boston League All-Star and as an Harry Agganis All-Star. He was the team’s long snapper and was named to the Medford Daily Mercury’s All-Scholastic team and received the Once a Mustang..Always a Mustang Scholarship Award and M-Club’s Romano Memorial Football Award.
Alec’s anticipated major will be Business Management with a concentration in Property Management. He is the son of proud parents Ed and Sandra Finn.
Joe D’Alessandro, #37, Fullback/Defensive Tackle/Punter will be
enrolling at Hudson Valley Community College, New York to play for newly appointed Head Football Coach Michael Muehling and the Vikings.
Joe earned a varsity letter for the Mustangs and handled all of the kicking duties. Joe was selected as Medford’s Outstanding Offensive Player for the Medford/Malden Thanksgiving Day Classic.
Joe will concentrate on liberal arts at Hudson Valley and is the son of proud parents Richard and Luisa Barone.
Other graduating seniors include Christopher Buccieri (Bunker Hill Community College), Malcolm Alexandre (UMass-Dartmouth), Michael Montiel (Bridgewater State University), and Irsh Belizaire (Framingham State University).
Finn selected to play in Harry Agganis All-Star Football Classic
In other Mustang football news, Alec Finn, MHS Class of 2011, has been selected to play in the Harry Agganis All-Star Football Classic.
“Being selected is a great honor to represent Medford. A lot of the credit has to go my parents for their support, Coach Rico Dello Iacono and assitants for coaching me up every day and week and of course my teachers and guidance councillor at the vocational school for keeping me focused in my school work,” said Finn.
The game is taking place in July 14 at 7PM at Manning Field in Lynn.
Agganis Week now includes seven all-star games and an awards breakfast for all Agganis All-Stars and scholarship winners.
The Agganis All-Star Classics feature high school seniors from several leagues, including the Northeastern Conference, Cape Ann League, Greater Boston League, Catholic Conference, Catholic Central League, Commonwealth Conference, Middlesex League and Merrimack Valley Conference.
