Irene Blows in as Tropical Storm
|Hurricane Irene had weakened to a tropical storm by the time she traveled up the East Coast and affected the Medford area on Sunday. High winds and heavy rain brought down entire trees, tree limbs, and knocked out the power for varying amounts of time in different areas of the city. While some questioned the strength of the storm, it still managed to wreak some havoc, which could have been worse had it not been a slow summer Sunday.
