AC Girls, Boys XC Teams Split Dual Meet

The Arlington Catholic girls cross country team continued their winning ways on a wet Tuesday afternoon. The Lady Cougars edged Marian, 27 to 29, and handily defeated Lowell Catholic, 15 to 49, to improve their record to 4-0.
The team was paced by junior captain Janelle Solviletti of Billerica, who placed a close second, followed by Watertown sophomore Kaitlin McCauley in fourth place, junior Lauren O’Neil of Stoneham in sixth, senior captain Brigid Kirkpatrick of Medford in seventh, freshman Kathleen McLaughlin of Waltham in eighth, senior captains Mary Stanton of Stoneham in eleventh and senior captain Becca Gonsalves of Woburn, fourteenth.
The boys team split the dual meet, defeating Lowell Catholic by a score of 27 to 31 and losing to Marian 22 to 35. Their record is now 3-1.
The Cougars were led by senior captain Nolan Hart of Medford, who placed seventh overall. Junior Matt Woods of Arlington was right behind him in eighth place, followed by senior captain Chris Laffey of Billerica in ninth, freshman Andrew Ahearn of Woburn in eleventh, senior Nick Nowell of Burlington in twelefth, and senior Joe Buccheri of Medford in thirteenth, with junior Alan Judd of Burlington rounding out the top seven finishers for the Cougars.
Next up for AC is a trip to Cambridge to face Cardinal Spellman and Matignon on Tuesday, September 27.
