AC Cross Country Continues to Out-Run Competition

The Arlington Catholic girls cross country team continued on their quest for a third straight undefeated season, improving their record on Tuesday to 6-0 by handily defeating Cardinal Spellman (19-40) and Matignon (15-50).
The Lady Cougars were led by junior Captain Janelle Solviletti of Billerica, who won the race. Solviletti was followed by sophomore Kaitlin McCauley of Watertown in second place, senior captain Brigid Kirkpatrick of Medford in fourth, junior Lauren O’Neil of Stoneham in fifth, freshman Kathleen McLaughlin of Waltham in seventh, sophomore Olivia Liberti of Medford in ninth, senior captain Becca Gonsalves of Woburn in tenth, sophomore Jessica Higgins of Peabody in eleventh, and senior captain Mary Stanton of Waltham in twelfth place.
The Cougar boys were able to pull out a split victory minus the team’s two top runners, captains Kevin Connors of Belmont and Kyle Liberti of Medford. AC defeated Matignon 16-44 and lost to a tough Cardinal Spellman team 15-44. The AC squad was led by senior captains Chris Laffey of Billerica, in sixth place, and Nolan Hart of Medford in seventh. They were followed by junior Matt Woods of Arlington in ninth, senior Joe Buccheri of Medford in tenth, senior Nick Nowell of Burlington in thirteenth, sophomore Mike Kumar of Medford in fifteenth, freshman Arthur Maressa of Woburn in twentieth, sophomore Sabastian Bissareth of Boston in twenty-first, junior Cory Egan of Burlington in twenty-second, and Nick Canniff of Arlington in twenty-third place.
The next meet for the Cougars will be on Monday at their home course at Menotomy Rocks Park in Arlington.
