‘Chili Fest’ at Tufts Honors Local Police, Firefighters
|Every year since 2002 police and firefighters from Medford and Somerville have joined Tufts University students in Carmichael Dining Hall for the “Station House Chili Fest.” The event, created after 9/11, takes place during National Fire Prevention and Public Safety month and recognizes the duties of local police officers and firefighters.
“Tufts students have enjoyed this event as they have come to more deeply respect the local police and fire officials through a greater understanding of their dedication to community,” said a statement from Tufts.
Over 100 police and fire personnel were expected to participate this year. The event took place on Wednesday.

Chili Fest is a great tradition and one is beginning the spread throughout the Northeast. It’s a great way to bring the community together with those who sacrifice so much to keep it safe. Kudos to Tufts for organizing the event and to Inside Medford for publicizing it! I’m looking forward to next year.
