Mystic River Celebration Highlight of Arts Festival
|A large crowd turned out on a crisp fall afternoon for the first annual Mystic River Celebration. The event took place around the Condon Shell and featured public art, vendors, crafters, food, and live music and dance performances. The Coalition for Arts, Culture, and a Healthy Economy (CACHE) produced the event, which was part of a month-long series of arts and cultural events throughout the city.
Laura Brereton and Raleigh Green delivered one of several live performances.

Local artist Hannah Verlin put together a public art installation that featured 8,000 translucent slips of paper staked to the ground in the shape of the Mystic River.
Historical data, street names, people, and events were written on the papers to create “a river of history” for Medford. People were encouraged to share a memory or other related Medford fact on the paper and make it part of the river.
