Falco Seeks Re-Election to School Committee
|My name is John Falco and as a candidate for re-election to the Medford School Committee, I respectfully ask for your vote on Tuesday, November 8th.
My first term as a member of the Medford School Committee, and my involvement in my own children’s education, convinces me that Medford has a good school system. However, good is just not good enough. I am running for re-election because I believe we can and should work harder to ensure that each student has every opportunity to reach his or her full potential and that our community views our school system with a great sense of pride.
My first term on the Medford School Committee has been very productive. We began with more than 30 goals and I am proud to say that many have been achieved. I have helped to increase financial transparency, revive the Community Schools program and improve communication with parents. There is still more work to be done and I know that I can continue to make a positive impact on our schools system. I am proud of my 100% attendance record at all school committee formal sessions at City Hall and all Committee of the Whole meetings. My commitment to the students and families of Medford is solid.
I have over 20 years of finance and accounting expertise with public and private global organizations and experience with multi-million dollar budgets. I was elected Secretary of the Medford School Committee and am also Chair of the Support Services Sub-committee. As Secretary, I am responsible for reviewing and approving expenses incurred by the Medford Public School system. As Chair of the Support Services Sub-committee, I led the initiative to develop the Community Schools pilot program. This program provided an opportunity for students and adults to participate in various programming and created revenue for the Medford Public School system.
As a parent with children in the Medford Public Schools system, I have my fingers on the pulse of what happens in our schools on a daily basis, and as a finance professional, I know how to balance a budget and understand fiduciary responsibility in response to these issues. When I advocate for all our children to our state representatives and Senator it is because I am personally invested in protecting our schools.
I have spent a majority of my life volunteering my time in organizations throughout our great city. I am currently member of the Medford Family Network Parent Advisory Board, Roberts Elementary School PTO, Medford Kiwanis Club, Chairperson of the Medford Family Network Legislative Action Committee and a Coach for St. Francis CYO Basketball.
Over the next few years there will be many important issues and challenges that our schools system will encounter. I believe that the three most important issues facing our schools system are the budget, technology, and maintenance of facilities. For more information about these issues, please visit my website at www.johnfalco.org.
I believe it’s important for the residents of our community to have an opportunity to voice their opinions and concerns because a successful public schools system benefits everyone. I ask that you please take my survey available online at www.johnfalco.org. I can also be reached at 781-395-1290 or falcoformedford@verizon.net.
Once again, I respectfully ask for one of your six votes on Tuesday, November 8th for Medford School Committee.
Sincerely,
John C. Falco, Jr.
