Girls, Boys Soccer Teams GBL Champs; Head to States

Both the boys and girls soccer teams have earned GBL titles and are beginning state tournament competition this week.

The boys, 10-4-1, are league co-champs with Somerville. They are the tenth seed out of twenty-two teams in North Division 1. The Mustangs earned a bye in the preliminary round of the state tournament and open up the first round at Chelmsford (#7, 10-2-4) at 4:30PM on Saturday. The winner will advance to the quarter finals and will face Woburn, Westford Academy, or Lincoln-Sudbury.

The Lady Mustangs, 12-4-1, are seeded eleventh out of nineteen teams in North Division 1. They also received a bye in the preliminary round and head to East Boston (#6, 14-3-0) on Saturday for a 3:30PM game. The winner will head to the quarter finals to face either Andover, North Andover, or Chelsea.

Cambridge (#18, 9-6-3) is the only other girls soccer team in the GBL to qualify for states. Somerville (#5, 12-2-4) and Cambridge (#17, 9-6-2) also qualified for the boys.
