Salem Five Awards $55,000 to 31 Massachusetts Non-Profit Organizations
Committed to positively impacting communities and the non-profits that serve them, Salem Five awarded a total of $55,000 to 31 local agencies, including the Greater Medford Visiting Nursing Association, in two separate events. The funds are part of the bank’s two foundations: Salem Five Charitable Foundation and Heritage Salem Five Charitable Foundation. Both foundations serve as tangible examples of Salem Five’s commitment to community.
Proceeds from the Salem Five Charitable Golf Tournament fund the Salem Five Charitable Foundation. Organizations are nominated by Salem Five employees who are personally involved in the charities. Twenty-five are then selected to each receive a $1,000 award. The Salem Five Charitable Foundation is heavily focused on supporting economic self-sufficiency, workforce development and financial literacy.
Heritage Salem Five Charitable Awards are awarded semi-annually. As part of this grant program, six agencies each received a $5,000 grant. The Foundation, which was created to honor the charitable giving legacy of Heritage Co-Operative Bank in its 2006 merger with Salem Five, awards grants to non-profit organizations located in the communities of Salem, Beverly, Peabody and Danvers, Massachusetts.
“At Salem Five our goal is to help build a stronger community. As it grows, we’re happy to see such diversity of missions and to give back to the wonderful organizations and individuals who are making a positive impact within our community,†said Joseph M. Gibbons, president and chief executive officer of Salem Five Bank. “These grant recipients are wonderful examples of community-building, economic development and critical workforce training organizations.â€
