After a long stretch on the road, the boys varsity basketball team narrowly edged Everett, 58-57 on its home court Friday night.
“Very good team win. I think our guys did a really good job executing the game plan,” said Head Coach Anthony Faradie.
Coach Faradie credited the team for its defense and “much better shot selection.”
The Mustangs were down by just three points with a minute and a half left in the game, and James Hawkins came through with two big free throws that put Medford up for one for good.
Senior Larry Keating finished the night with sixteen points while junior guard Sean Doncaster added nine.
The Mustangs will spend the next three games at home facing Malden (January 24), Cambridge (January 27), and Somerville (January 31). Medford is currently 6-6 overall and 1-3 in the GBL.
Tuesday’s game against Malden will be a special “Pink Out” fundraiser for breast cancer research. The game is at 7PM at MHS. In addition, on Monday, January 23 John Brewer’s Tavern will host both the boys and girls Medford and Malden teams for dinner while twenty percent of restaurant sales from Monday night will be donated to the cause.
