Super Bowl Sunday Also Battle of Wealthy Tufts Alums
|When the New England Patriots and New York Giants take the field on Super Bowl Sunday it will also be a battle of sorts between wealthy Tufts University alumni.
Dan Kraft, a 1987 Tufts graduate and university trustee, is the son of Patriots owner Robert Kraft. The Kraft family has donated to the university over the years, and Kraft Field, home of the Jumbo soccer and lacrosse teams, was a gift from the Krafts in the 1980’s.
Meanwhile, Tufts Trustee Jonathan Tisch, a 1976 Tufts grad, is the co-owner of the New York Giants with his brother Steve (Tufts 1971), who is the team chairman. The Tisch family has also been very generous to the university. The library bears their name and a new sports complex opening in the fall, which will be named after Steve, was made possible by $13 million in gifts.
