Public Hearing on Liquor Licenses POSTPONED

Story Updated 11:57AM Monday, April 30, 2012

A City Council Committee of the Whole meeting scheduled for Wednesday, May 2 to discuss liquor licenses in Medford has been postponed to a later date, according to City Clerk Ed Finn.

The purpose of the meeting is to gather feedback from citizens and business owners on a proposal to reduce the seating capacity from 99 seats to 50 seats for businesses seeking a liquor license in Medford. The move would require a home rule petition first approved by the City Council and then sent to the state legislature and Governor for approval.

The Council has asked City Solicitor Mark Rumley, representatives from the Chamber of Commerce, and members of the License Commission to attend the meeting.

There is no word yet on when the meeting will take place.
