“Are you an Otter Spotter?”
|May is National Water Safety Month and the Joshua Collingsworth Foundation wanted to kick off the month by spreading water safety awareness all over the country with Josh the Otter and their amazing volunteers.
Last year, they created “National Otter Spotter Day” as a fun and simple way to get community members around the country involved in spreading the message of water safety within their own areas. This year’s “2nd Annual Otter Spotter Day” had volunteers in over 30 cities (10 more than last year) and 16 states participating.
The Rotary Club of Medford was involved this year. In March, during Tufts Read by the River, the club distributed Josh the Baby Otter books and coloring books promoting the message, geared especially toward to pre-K and kindergarten aged children, to stay away from water unless accompanied by an adult.
Josh the Otter is seen here in a tree at a car wash held last week by Medford High School’s Interact Club.
