City Council to Discuss Budget Tuesday, Wednesday

The Medford City Council will meet on Tuesday and Wednesday this week to discuss the budget for fiscal year 2013, which begins July 1.
Councilors will meet in a Committee of the Whole on Tuesday, June 5 at 6:00PM in Room 207 at Medford City Hall. Proposed budgets for the following departments will be reviewed: Environment, Council on Aging, Health, and the Conservation Commission.
On Wednesday, June 6 the Council will meet at 5:30PM to discuss proposed budgets for the following: Veterans Services, Building Department, Electrical Department, Library, Finance/Purchasing Department, Insurance-Workers Compensation, Assessors, Treasury, and Bonds and Interest.
The Council’s regular meeting will take place on Tuesday at 7PM in the Council Chambers.
All meetings are open to the public.
Fiscal year 2012 is coming to an end on June 30. Last year, the Council passed a $133 million budget, which was up by 1% from the previous fiscal year. That figure includes the school budget. The School Committee will hold its own budget meetings later in the month and will send a proposed budget to the Council for final approval before the end of June.
