Stained Glass Exhibit Opening at Springstep July 12
|Springstep, a nonprofit organization that fosters active community participation in dance, movement, and music, will be exhibiting a show of textile-inspired stained glass by Kate Gakenheimer, a Cambridge-based artist specializing in custom and one-of-a-kind stained glass panels. Light, Color, and Pattern opens with a reception on Thursday, July 12 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm and will be on display through September 21, 2012. The reception and exhibit are free and open to the public.
Springstep’s Art in the Atrium series features emerging and/or local artists and is proud to be exhibiting the colorful work of Kate Gakenheimer in our light-filled gallery. Gakenheimer uses the techniques of sand-blasting, glass-painting, enameling and layering to create glass pieces inspired by vintage fabrics and kimono designs. She enjoys experimenting with color, form and light and making her pieces complex and dense with color and pattern.
The gallery reception coincides with the start of Springstep’s Summer Session of dance, fitness, and art classes which runs from July 9 through August 25, 2012.
