Covelle Pitches Legion Baseball Team to Victory

On Monday afternoon the American Legion Post 45 baseball team earned an 8-1 home victory over Ashland.

Ryan Covelle (Malden Catholic) pitched a complete game, allowing six hits and one run while striking out six. He improved his record to 3-0 on the mound, according to Coach Ryan Kozul.

Arlington Catholic graduate Jon Byrne (pictured above) was 3-3 with an RBI and two runs scored while fellow Cougar Anthony Barry was 2-2 with an RBI and a run scored. Malden Catholic graduate Paul Covelle scored three runs while Medford High School players Mike Koury, Mike Pizzi, Kevin Andrew, and Andrew Cronin all added hits.

The team is now 6-6 heading into Wednesday’s road game against Sudbury, a team that has won the district championship seven of the last eight years, said Coach Kozul. The game is at 7:00PM at Feeley Field.
