New Medford Arts Series to ‘Circle the Square’ with Live Entertainment

CACHE Launches Monthly Open-Air Program in Medford Square Beginning July 19

Circle the Square

On the third Thursday of each month between July and October, Medford Square will come alive. Circle the Square, a new program bringing music, art, food trucks, activities and other free entertainment to Medford Square, will kick off its inaugural season on Thursday, July 19th. Events will be held in public spaces in and around Medford Square, and feature an array of family-friendly activities that will run from 4pm – 8pm.

Circle the Square is a program produced by CACHE, the Coalition for Arts, Culture, and a Healthy Economy in Medford, the same non-profit organization behind the annual October Medford on the Mystic Arts Festival. This new monthly program is designed to make Medford Square a destination and make local entertainment accessible to all.

“Medford Square is an incredibly unique and beautiful region of our city with many spaces that lend themselves perfectly to entertainment opportunities,” says CACHE Programs Manager, Allie Fiske. “Programs like this have proven to be extremely successful in communities such as New Bedford, Pittsfield, and Jamaica Plain, and we’re excited to bring that momentum to our community and get people out and enjoy the talents and resources in their own backyards.”

Circle the Square will take place on July 19, August 16, September 20, and October 18. A unique line-up of programs each month will take place in a variety of locations around the Square, including the plaza near the Salem Street Burial Grounds, the parking lot of Members Plus Credit Union, the newly renovated greenway by Clippership Drive, the walking bridge by Shipyard Way, Sloane Square in front of Century Bank, and the steps in front of City Hall.

Circle the Square is currently seeking musicians, dancers, theater groups, artists, and other performers to provide programming during any of the Circle the Square events. In addition, the group is also seeking volunteers to help with the operations of each event.
