Final ‘Circle the Square’ Event October 18

Come and join us for our final Circle the Square of the season on Thursday, October 18 from 4-8 pm. It has been exciting season for us, and we hope to cap it off with our best event yet.

As always, we are planning a wide range of fun activities and events for the whole family to enjoy. This month’s musical line-up will include performances from Out with the Cat and Shades of Green, as well as music with Max Ex and pizza at Shipyard Way brought to you by Salvatore’s (with proceeds of pizza sales going to the Medford High School Rowing Team), and an a cappella performance by Boston Accent at Mystic Coffee Roaster.

Laura DugganWe’ll once again have local artists displaying their wares at the Salem Street Burying Ground Plaza, including mosaics, fiber arts, jewelry, crochet work, and soaps, and you’ll also be able to view and purchase the works of local artists at the new Mystic Art Gallery. Bestsellers Café will feature a Showcase of Artists from Grace Church, with dance, poetry, readings from Medford author Oscar Greene, and scenes from Laura Duggan’s one-woman play “Beatrix Potter and Peter Rabbit” (pictured at right). We’ll also have hoop dancing from Boston Hoop Troop, and demonstrations from the Medford High School Rowing Team, Oom Yung Doe and Xtreme Ninja. Learn more about the history of Medford and view a display of artifacts from the Medford Hillside Neighborhood at the Medford Historical Society. And check out our kids activities including harvest-themed crafts with Medford Family Network, face painting with Amaze Face, a sing-along with Matt Heaton, and an open house with crafts and activities at Play Academy.

This month, we’re planning a World of Food Tent with some of your favorite local eateries, including Carroll’s, Nourish Your Soul Smoothies and Roma’s Bakery, as well as a wine tasting, and food trucks from Mei Mei’s Street Kitchen and Bon Me.

Our Tasty Fare in the Square Scavenger Hunt will have you searching local menus to identify which dishes are served where. Players will be eligible to win prizes from local businesses. There will also be fun activities and discounts offered at many Medford Square businesses.

Public transportation, walking, and biking to the square is encouraged. Parking can be found in the commuter lot by Springstep, behind City Hall, along Clippership Drive and the adjacent parking lot, and the lot off of Governor’s Avenue.

Final event activities may be subject to change. For the most current information about Circle the Square’s schedule of events visit www.circlethesquare.org or visit us on Facebook http://www.facebook.com/circlethesquaremedford or Twitter https://twitter.com/CircleSquareMed.
