Medford ‘Jingle Bell Mash Up’ to Debut Wednesday
|On Wednesday, December 19, The Jingle Bells City will be getting a new twist on an old favorite.
Made in Medford, the local segment of Comcast’s Project Open Voice, which recently launched a new dedicated channel to celebrating the global holiday classic Jingle Bells, will debut its newest video. The video, which will be available at 10:00AM, will be a mash-up of Medford groups, individuals and some special guests offering their own unique spin on the song.
For several weeks, the crew at Made in Medford has been both patrolling the city and collecting online submissions, capturing on video the spirit with which our residents perform and celebrate our holiday anthem. From Medford High School sports teams to the folks at the Farmers Market to the cast of “A Christmas Carol,†this video will offer the best of the best – and maybe the best of the worst – we found.
One special guest singer, along with his supporting choir of a half-dozen friends, will make his vocal debut on the channel. Who is he? You’ll have to log on and find out, but chances are good you know this fair-haired gentleman who spends much of his time at 85 George P. Hassett Drive.
Written in 1850 by James Pierpont at a tavern in the heart of Medford Square, the song is used as the platform of holiday celebration in Medford. Each year, the city’s annual “Jingle Bell Festival†kicks off the holiday season in Medford with a tree lighting ceremony and a host of family-friendly activities at City Hall.
Part of Comcast’s Project Open Voice (www.projectopenvoice.com), Made in Medford, is dedicated to exploring new and innovative ways that local programming – including public, educational and government media – can be made available in a community. The Made in Medford website, www.MadeinMedford.com, and video-on-demand component are designed to support the interaction between residents and visitors, help connect them with what’s going on around Medford and show them where to find additional content on a given subject matter.
