New York City Mayor and billionaire philanthropist Michael Bloomberg has made a $50,000 donation to the Medford Public Schools in memory of his mother, Charlotte.
According to the Medford Public Schools website, the money will be used for an educational technology center in the high school library. The center will include computers, an interactive whiteboard, document cameras, mobile devices, and printers.
“The center will encourage project-based, interdisciplinary learning. The center will enable teachers and students to develop projects that foster 21st century skills and attitudes,” said a statement posted on the school district’s website.
Bloomberg is a 1960 Medford High School graduate. His mother Charlotte, a well-known and highly respected member of the community, passed away in 2011 at the age of 102.
