Medford Schools Closed Tuesday

The Medford Public Schools will be closed for the third day following a blizzard that dumped over two feet of snow on the area.
According to a statement released by School Superintendent Roy Belson, school and city officials need an additional day to clear snow from school properties and to ensure students walking to school and taking the bus will be safe.
Monday night’s regularly scheduled School Committee meeting was also postponed. The boys varsity hockey game between Medford and Melrose is still taking place at 7:00PM at LoConte Rink, according to Athletic Director Bob Maloney.
Supt. Belson said he expects school to be in session on Wednesday.
Other local schools that are closed on Tuesday so far include Everett, Lynn, Somerville, and Saint Clement.
Medford hasn’t seen this much snow since the winter of 2010-2011 when several major snowstorms pounded the area. School was closed five times that winter.
