Girls Basketball Advances to Next Round

Three Medford High School teams have qualified for the state tournament, but only two are still in it.
The boys basketball team lost a heart-breaker on the road Tuesday night, 68-60, to Andover, while the girls advanced with a home win Monday over Chelmsford. The Lady Mustangs earned a post-season spot by clinching the Greater Boston League title.
All of the boys basketball GBL teams qualified for the state tournament. Everett, 14-6, was the highest seed at #7.
The Lady Mustangs, 10-10, are ranked sixteenth out of seventeen teams in North Division 1. Medford defeated Chelmsford (#17, 8-10) 52-50 at home on Monday night. The team now faces top seed Lynn English (20-2) on the road on Thursday.

The girls varsity hockey team stamped their ticket with a 6-1 win over Peabody on Wednesday. Medford, 10-7-3, is ranked eighteenth out of twenty-six teams in Division 1. The Lady Mustangs are on the road against Medway/Ashland (#15, 11-6-3) for an 8:15PM game on Wednesday, February 27. The winner will face second seed Beverly/Danvers (16-2-2).
