Kennedy to Share African Stories for Kids at Library
|Local storyteller Sharon Kennedy has just returned from almost a month collecting stories in two countries in Africa, Ghana and Burkina Faso.
On April 17 at 10 AM at the Medford Public Library, she will share her stories, which are perfect for children five years old and up. Come hear about from the Ewe People of Ghana “The Beautiful Young Girl with Five Hundred Marriage Proposals” and “Will Elephant Get To be King of the Animals?” Also, from the Ashanti people, learn about the “The Hunter and The Tortoise.”
This program will also include singing and dancing for everyone who comes because African storytelling almost always includes these things. There won’t be traditional West African dance, but it will be a lot of fun! Also, anyone who has a two or three minute story to share can do so – bring one if you can.
This program is supported in part by the Medford Arts Council, a local agency, supported by thee MA Cultural Council, a state agency and by the Friends of the Medford Public Library.
