Medford freshmen pitcher Ashley Eisnor won her fourth straight game by over-powering rival Malden, last year’s Division 1 Eastern Mass champions and four time consecutive Greater Boston League champions.
Medford defeated the Golden Tornadoes on the road 6-2. According to Head Coach Jack Dempsey, his team took control early in the game by scoring three runs in both the first and second innings before “letting Eisnor take over from there.” Eisnor gave up five hits, struck out nine, and only walked two batters. She also chipped in offensively with a long double.
Senior captains Katie Napier (three hits, two RBI’s, and two runs scored) and Sam LoPilato (two hits, an RBI, and a run scored) were instrumental in the Lady Mustangs’ attack. Sophomore Brianna Napoleone continued her “torrid hitting” from the third spot with two hits, two runs scored and an RBI, said Coach Dempsey. Senior Christina Lynch pounded out two hits and two RBI’s while junior Sarah Donnelly also banged out two hits along with a big RBI. Sophomore Hannah O’Leary completed the hitting assault with a long double and an RBI.
The Lady Mustangs now stand on top of the Greater Boston League with a 4 and 0 record.
The next game is on the road Monday with GBL opponent Somerville at Trum Field.
